Planning- Project proposal

Introduction:

Hello, I'm Oscar and i'm making a magazine by myself for my project. I chose to do a magazine for my project well more specifically a sports magazine about soccer. I chose this because I play and love soccer so I have a lot of information about the topic this allows me to give accurate info about the subject, and I'm doing youth soccer because it helps me get photos easier.

Target audience/ issues:

The target audience can be many different things like young athletes, young adults, sports fans, coaches and sport professionals. all these can be seen as the audience. Some potential issues can be used of the software, finding interesting stories for my articles ,and getting good looking pictures for the magazine.

Software/Plan:

I'm planning on using in-design to create my magazine as that is the software that we learned in class so that is the software that I have the most knowledge and experience in so that will make my magazine look better and easier to make. I'm planning to start with thinking about what I'm going to do for my articles. Next, I'm going to design the cover of the magazine, followed by the table of contents. I'm then going to do the articles and after that I should be done.

Planning-lay out design and magazine name

 Hello!

Magazine name:

I want the the magazine name to have something to do with sports, but something that has to do with soccer as that's what I want my magazine to focus on overall. Since I have to take my own photos I want it to focus on young athletes so I was brought to 3 choices, future stars, ballers to be, and soccer's future. but overall I think i'm going with future stars.

Layout design:

I'm going to need to make a layout design for my magazine so that my whole magazine can look good and not look messy and all over itself that means it needs to keep the same color or color scheme all over, the same fonts and size of them, and same writing style and it all has to be my own layout.

Planning-style guide

 Hello,

I wanted to start with my style guide so that i can plan out how my magazine will look as a whole

Cover:

I will have the cover image be of an athlete while making to have the picture of the athlete front and center to draw most of the attention as this is how you draw most people in. While at the same making my masthead big and colorful so that they know who is making the magazine. I will try to make my coverlines creative, interesting while at the same time trying to keep it relevant and realistic to real life same thing with my feature article. I have to make sure that I add a barcode, dateline, some puff, and a strip as that is what every magazine has.

Table of Contents:

I want it to have like 2-3 fonts to make it look nice while having another image of a athlete. I want it to have something to do with the sports so have it be called the team sheet or roster instead of table of contents to make it more exciting.

Feature article Plan:

I need have another picture that has something to do with the feature article. I have to give it a subheading and a little info about what's happening and lastly i will have to make a writer for the article .while also putting statistics or a quote. I have to make sure the info is right and interesting.

Research- table of context conventions

 Hello,

I wanted figure out how to make the table of context and what I found out is that A magazine table of contents uses clear headings, page numbers, organized sections, short descriptions, and strong visual hierarchy to help readers navigate the magazine quickly and easily.

Consistent Typography

  • Uses a limited number of fonts (usually 2–3) this allows them to have a consistent look throughout .

  • Headings, subheadings, and body text follow a clear hierarchy to make it much easier to read

  • Consistency makes the page easier to read and more professional.

  • always has the table of context on the top of the page.

      Branding & Design Style

  • Matches the overall style of the magazine.

  • Colors, fonts, and tone stay consistent with the cover and articles.

  • Reinforces the magazine’s identity.

Research-Sports illustrated conventions

  • Expert analysis & commentary – Opinion pieces and breakdowns written by experienced sports journalists. which gives them the stats

  • Profiles of athletes – Focus on star players, legends, and rising athletes, often emphasizing character and impact which allows them to learn about how their favorite player became who they are

      Visual Conventions

  • High-quality photography – Large, dramatic action shots that capture motion, emotion, and intensity which gives their magazines even more of a identity

  • Iconic covers – Bold images of athletes with minimal text to draw attention many people can tell that a magazine is from them because of this.

  • Clean, professional layout – Balanced use of white space, columns, and captions.

  • Infographics & statistics – Charts, rankings, and sidebars that make complex data easy to understand which allows readers to enjoy their magazine without having to figure out the stats

      Language & Style Conventions

  • Formal but engaging tone – Professional journalism that is still accessible to casual fans.

  • Storytelling focus – Articles often read like narratives, not just reports.

  • Credible sourcing – Quotes from athletes, coaches, and experts to build trust.

     Brand-Specific Conventions
